I’ve been exploring wire wrapping as a way to turn some of my tumbles into wearable pieces. I started by watching a few YouTube videos to get a general feel for the technique, but I quickly ran into a hiccup- I ordered the wrong kind of wire and found myself getting frustrated when I couldn’t properly follow along.
By the end of the night, I put everything away. Nothing finished, just a tangle of wire and a bit of discouragement.
The next day, I decided to approach it differently. Instead of trying to perfectly replicate what I saw in tutorials, I chose a stone with a bit more texture and shape, something that felt easier to work with. I picked up a beautiful piece of labradorite that had been sitting quietly in my collection and decided to just… try.
No videos this time. Just intuition, patience, and my hands.
What came out of it is this piece. It’s not perfect; far from it, but there’s something about it that I really love. It feels personal, a little raw, and honestly, it made me feel so much better to just create without overthinking.
This has me wondering… if I continue practicing and refining my technique, I might eventually start offering handmade wire-wrapped pieces like this in my shop.
What do you think of this piece?
And how do you feel about purchasing wire-wrapped jewelry made with metaphysical stones and crystals?
