Why I Started Making Goat Milk Soap for Sensitive Skin

Hi, and welcome.
I’m so glad you’re here.

My journey into soapmaking began for a very personal reason: my skin. I’ve always had extremely dry, sensitive skin, but as I’ve gotten older, it’s become even more delicate and reactive. Store-bought “soap” simply wasn’t cutting it anymore. No matter how many brands I tried; gentle, moisturizing, dermatologist-recommended, I was left with tight, itchy skin that never truly felt nourished.

That’s when I learned something that changed everything: many products marketed as soap aren’t actually soap at all. They’re synthetic detergents, filled with harsh surfactants and additives that strip the skin rather than care for it. Once I understood that, it became clear why my skin was constantly struggling.

Around the same time, I was also dealing with chronic headaches and migraines. Strong, artificial fragrances were often triggers for me, so I knew that if I was going to make something for my skin, it also had to be something that was kind to my senses. That’s what led me toward natural ingredients and essential oils, especially peppermint, which has long been known to help soothe headaches and provide a cooling, calming effect.

I started small. My first few batches of soap were made just for me. I wanted something creamy, gentle, and nourishing; something that would actually help my skin instead of fighting against it. Goat milk quickly became the heart of my recipes because of how rich, moisturizing, and soothing it is for sensitive skin.

Every time family or friends came to visit, my soap bars would mysteriously disappear. Their love for my soaps gave me the confidence to start selling locally, and the encouragement I received there became the next push toward offering my products online.

As my business has grown, I’ve expanded into other types of soaps and scent profiles. While not every fragrance I use today is an essential oil, I remain deeply committed to keeping my soaps as natural as possible. I carefully select high-quality fragrance options when I use them and stay true to the original philosophy that started it all: gentle formulas, thoughtful ingredients, and products made with sensitive skin in mind.

Many of my ingredients are locally sourced. My goat milk comes from various farms in Central Pennsylvania, supporting small local farmers and ensuring the freshest, highest-quality milk possible. Some of the herbs used in my soaps are grown by me, in my very own garden, something that brings an extra layer of care and intention into every batch I make.

What started as a personal solution has grown into something much bigger: handcrafted soaps made with purpose, transparency, and love. Every bar is created with care, whether it’s designed to calm sensitive skin, delight the senses, or simply make everyday routines feel a little more special.

Thank you for being here and for taking the time to learn my story. I hope my soaps bring your skin the same comfort, relief, and joy they’ve brought to me, and to everyone who couldn’t stop “stealing” them along the way.
